Quality Matters (QM) is a collection of resources designed to measure and guarantee the quality of online and hybrid courses. QM offers support in defining and maintaining quality assurance goals in online learning. In large part, they do this by training faculty and leadership at educational institutions to use their QM rubric in order to assess the quality of online courses. QM provides a wide variety of materials that support its users in using the rubric effectively; when used as designed, there is a cycle that develops where the course is evaluated, retooled to address areas of weakness, and reevaluated. That process continues until the course quality is deemed excellent by the QM evaluators. (Learn more about the Quality Matters process.)

By joining the Quality Matters organization, we now have access to their resources for all faculty and staff; this access includes the fully annotated higher education QM Rubric. Our membership includes:

  • All Faculty & Staff
  • Fully annotated HE Rubric access
  • License to facilitate APPQMR
  • Option for an IYOC license
  • Official Subscriber-Managed Course Reviews
  • Discounts on Official QM-Managed Course Reviews
  • Discounts on professional development
  • MyQM & Course Review Management System
  • My Custom Reviews (MyCR)
  • Enhanced reporting tools

Quality Matters also publishes Higher Education News.

Professional development opportunities include a variety of subjects ranging from “Closed Captioning Videos” to “Designing Your Blended Course.” The vast majority of the professional development opportunities do have a cost associated with them ($75 -$500).

You can become certified as a QM qualified reviewer, for which there are several levels. Each course is a multiple week course that leaves you certified to be a peer reviewer, a master reviewer, or with various other certifications.

You can also have your course evaluated by Quality Matters, at a cost.
